Well the past year has been quite a journey. We have settled in to living here in Rio de Janeiro in our first full year here. We now have a new baby, Sophia. And recently we have closed on an apartment here in Barra da Tijuca.
While it honestly doesn't "feel a lot like Christmas" with the summer temperatures reaching nearly 90 degrees, we are enjoying life with our new baby and the challenges and joys of parenthood.
The other day we had an event with Rio de Paz where we shared Christmas with the kids in Cidade de Deus. It was a wonderful day that I was blessed to take part of. You can see all of the families who took part in receiving substinence.
We are so grateful for all of those who have partnered with Restore Brazil over the past year. This includes everyone who has prayed for us, supported us financially, encouraged us, and showed the love of Christ to us. It is with this same love that we share Christ with others.
There have been challenges of course. Juggling working with our church, Restore Brazil and coordinating Acts 29, as well as planning for our new baby has kept us very busy. But God has been so faithful.
Over the past year we have planted churches, trained 100s of church planters and pastors, hosted conferences, hosted dozens of missionaries and four mission teams, worked in the slums, and most importantly, shared the Gospel with men, women, boys, and girls.
In 2011 we are looking forward to more of the same. We have a couple of key initiatives that I will be unveiling in the beginning of the year.
First, a church planting conference that will be unlike one that Brazil has seen, I believe.
Secondly, a new couple joining us who is radically laying down their lives for the Gospel.
Third, we are venturing into assisting in translation of books and media.
Fourth, we are hosting missiologist Ed Stetzer for a day-long event August.
Fifth, I am bringing a team of 12 Brazilian pastors to the US in February.
Sixth, a city-wide strategy to plant more churches in the slums.
Join us in prayer that God uses Restore Brazil to serve the church here. We want to plant more churches, and reach more people with the Gospel. We are thankful for the Body of Christ, who constantly encourages us in this Gospel ministry. And thankful for you!
